Ahh, so. Movies:We went to see 2012 a day or two ago. It wasn't necessarily the best film I've seen, because of the not-so-original divorced-parents-n-kids the-(ex)-husband-(main-character)-too-im mersed-in-his-work-doesn't-have-time-for-k ids-and-is-a-writer plus-then-the-ex-wife-has-a-new-boyfrien d-the-kids-seem-to-prefer and the KABOOM-END-OF-THE-WORLD-as-we-know-it and they have to get saved. It was beautiful quite impressing to watch, with all the special effects (California going to pieces) but at some point you kind of lost the belief in the family being always able to just in time dodge the falling buildings and cracks on the ground. The main character father (played by, let's see... John Cusack) - I liked him, for some reason. There was something sympathetic about him. It was also good that he wasn't of the scientists working on the problem, but a more-or-less normal guy - unlike in films like 'The Day after Tomorrow' or something (uh, right?). Also there was this crazy guy who almost immediately I set eyes on him reminded me of the quite minor character of Max from the X-files. The end was okay, except that the divorced couple got back together. I mean, sure, yeah, happy end and stuff, but still? The death of the wife's new guy (who in fact had been really useful throughout the film, flying them to places) seemed quite forced, and no one was left to grieve for him as everyone was back together. Macro of the Day:Picture totally unrelated: It's so terribly sad that so few people these days, I mean, like, would get this. You win the nets if you do. //editing around midnight. I feel like such a terrible person for not continuing this one long story I've been working on for ages. I got back to it today, but couldn't progress the storyline anywhere. I just added descriptive text here and there. One day, one day you will buy my books and be amazed, trust me.

I'm slowly getting excited about this Alice Cooper gig I'm going to see in a couple of weeks' time. It's terribly nice of at least someone to be still alive and kicking and touring. In the past few years my hopes of both seeing the return of Pink Floyd (they could have, but then Wright died, so maybe not) and Michael Jackson (he went and died off too) have been ruined, so it's great to get to see someone. Also, you can not imagine my envy for mum, her sister and my cousin who saw David Bowie some years ago. I was too young to understand at that time, poor me. I have a strong feeling that I should use a Cooper macro here, but I won't as I still will tell you about Across the Universe. So we have this 2007-made the Beatles musical-movie set in the sixties in America where a Liverpoolian (you, know, someone from Liverpool, yes?) named Jude goes to find his dad and then falls in love with a girl named Lucy whose brother named Max(well, I believe) goes off to the Vietnam war and then there are people named Sadie, Prudence, dr. Robert (who really was Bono) and some other. The songs were good, as you might guess, but the music and singing wasn't really the best possible. One song did sound really good though, A Day in the Life, but it was an instrumental. The majority of the songs seemed a bit off, really, and only the ones relating to the plot had been subtitled (in terrible Finnish too). I have to leave now. A macro, though, as I promised:

First, look at this: And then tell me why I don't own one yet. Is that like the greatest umbrella ever? Blade Runner for the win! Movies: Theres an other Holmes adaptation coming out, probably some low budget straight-to-dvd/blu-ray thingy, but lo! this Holmes is a little bit like the real one. (Still, he's [arguably] too young and his hair is too long. And Watson should for ever be shorter than Holmes.) Two things I find rather weird are the steampunky objects in the gallery and the tyrannosaurus rex. I probably won't see this, ever, but I felt the need to announce the existence of this to you. The real Sherlock Holmes is a mixture of the TV series guy and the Star Wars evil commander guy. And David Bowie! Absolutely!

Why does it always seem that there are no good movies in theatres? You're always waiting for a film or two, but none of the ones they're currently showing are good. Mind you, you can watch movies elsewhere too. Yesterday I watched ' How I Won the War'. Though I generally dislike war films, this one was quite good. Of course, it wasn't all just killing the enemies, it was about these hopeless men trying to get behind enemy lines so that they could put up a cricket ... field? what do you call it? there. It was very British and that means that it wasn't really all that funny. Made in the mid-to-late-sixties, even the Pythons hadn't emerged as a group yet. The film did have its moments, like the way some of the characters (seemingly spontaneously) turned all clad in one bright colour. Not until the very end of the film did I realize that it probably was made so that when a character died, he turned colourful, the same colour in which the battle-sequence in which he died was filmed in (make any sense?). Unfortunately I can't find any screencaps of them. Oh, yes, by the way, it's the film John Lennon was in after the Beatles quit touring in -66. His colour was blue. Then, this: I know it's sorta old, but still. I mean, I found out about this only, like, a week ago, and I sort of cried. Not even 'sort of'. I did. Where did my hero disappear? Now, I'm repairing the damage done with this, okay, and we forget that Gackt ever looked like that ^, yes? It's interesting how no one seems to know/like Malice Mizer even though everything Japanese is totally, like, 'in' right now, and has been so the last couple years. I mean, people, it's like GACKT, the prettiest singer ever, and MANA, who, like, invented Elegant Gothic Lolita, and they're both pretty and YOUNG. Ah well. Maybe it's just good.

We-he-helll... . . . . . The first week of school is almost over, and I come to you bearing gifts. First two pictures of me wearing glasses I bought today ( and before you come to complain I'd just like to inform you that to me wearing glasses is a bit like wearing high heels is to some people. I mean, high heels make you taller->better looking, yes? Then why not with glasses as well [not sayin' they make me tall though] ? ) this I am saying: these pictures, even though taken in a terrible yellow light with a webcam look a thousand times better than the school pictures of this year. So yay. (point 1.5: Is anyone reminded of this? You can't actually see it from those pics, but that's totally how my hair goes like in the front.)Second, my über-awesome English essay-type-sort-of thing. In a separate post, just because. Then. . . . . . . . . .*suspense* - - - *roll doom music* We went to see this film yesterday, me and dad: empty space
(well not so empty since I wrote this)
continuing with the underwater theme, eh? . .
First of all: MIYAZAKI GENIUS x million. Unbelievable. I mean really. It was something you (or me) did not expect (I was totally unspoiled though and all). Definitely worth seeing. And it made me want to watch Mononoke-hime (though 'something something something Ponyo*' was something so very different {all children-y and happy and non-bloody.} ) I don't really know what I should write of it. . .
* the name as I remember it. IMDB tells me the somethings translate to Gake no Ue no ...
. . . Ahhumh. *Is reminded of 'ugh, paperi loppui.'*
Yeah, what was I.... Oh yeah the sewing. Well, it is a bit desperate with me, really, but no worries. Also. Saturday (the day of one-eyebrow'd people (united eyebrows)) = Hetalia Day. Doubt I'm gonna do anything though. And chapter HOLiC 188 translated.

So I promised that I'd write a bit more of Inglourious Basterds.
The movie had many characters but I didn't really connect with any of them, because the film didn't really tell the reasons for their actions (except for Shosanna). For the rest of them was just that 'we don't like nazis' - which, now that I think of it, might be good enough a reason. My not 'loving' any character also made it easier for me to tolerate the fact that just about everyone died. The film was very pleasing to the eye - the sets and characters' dresses and suits were amazing and beautiful. The length of the movie was good, it was shorter than Pulp Fiction (then again, Pulp Fiction is long). I was also delighted to hear not only English but German and French spoken, and there probably were more lines in the latter two. The plot was something I enjoyed following. The 'chapters' of the story were in chronological order (something I believe Tarantino has avoided before), but I don't think it would have worked any other way. The plot wasn't the deepest possible study on human actions and such. If there indeed was a deeper meaning to the film I'm not quite I really got it. However, the movie had its moments, a bunch of them really, as there were a number of unexpected turns of events. I also must mention that I found the film very fun, if a bit gross (then again, it's Tarantino, so you can't avoid spilling a bit of blood).
Lastly, I must praise Tarantino on the music. The music was amazing. Beyond amazing, and I would prbably be saying this even if they didn't have the David Bowie song (which happened to fit the scene perfectly, I mean, it was like the scene was built around the song) in it as well.

So, okay. I can't really control myself right now, cause, you know, like, . . . .ARGH.
So yeah. We, me T. J. and S. went to the centre yesterday, ate some Chinese food and then went to see Inglourious Basterds. And, like, I have no words. I will come back after school and tell you all about it, give you a proper review and stuff, but I just needed to get this out right now. I would've done so yesterday, but there was the normal post-amazing-experience depression, so I didn't.
Also, take a look at my now listening. WAY TO GO, TARANTINO. FOOKIN' BOWIE YEAH.
*goes to the corner and slowly melts away*

Look look look at the pretty picture I found: Happy Birthday Freddie! Doing stuff with people:T was here overnight, left not half an hour ago. We watched some *ahemahem* Tarantino films, namely Kill Bill I and Pulp Fiction. We were invited over to my cousins to watch Watchmen too, which we did. Shopping:I have this terrible need to go shopping. It started when I was lying on the sofa in the morning. It's unexplainable - I don't even have anything particular in mind, well, except for that one poster, but yeah. I'm still making up my mind whether or not I'll be going, however, cause I have loads to do here too. I need to read. Literature:As you can tell by the sidebar box, my list of books being read does not decrease in size, in fact the quite opposite. I bought that Counter Clock World -book the day before yesterday and I need to read it as well. But it's not something I need to hurry with. It's in Finnish and all, imagine that! School:On Friday we had Art and Maths. And the yearly photoshoot-session-thingy. I have no idea how I looked, but at least I had nice clothes. In Art I began painting my acrylic painting, a big clock, or more like a wheel-kind-of Map of Time. It's going to be really cool and detailed, and everyone totally underestimated my ability to paint details, they were all aking 'How are you going to paint all the details?' and I say 'Just like I paint it all, with some paint and a brush.' Movies:I cannot stop watching listen to Johnny Depp and good lord Elfman's music is epic aaaaargh.

So. Many things. Books:1. I Bought Philip K. Dick's Counter Clock World, and it took me ages to find that name in English (couldn't be bothered to get the book) from the net. 2. They're going to write and publish new Moomin books for children. School:1. We just watched an episode of Moomins in Finnish on Thursday, (The one with the Lady of the Cold) and read a bit on Moomins and answered some questions. I found it great, but, then again, I have always loved Moomins, even more now that I'm a bit older. Movies:1. I watched the first, uh, fifth of The Man Who fell to Earth ( You know, like, David Bowie?), and will finish it some time, but the thing I'm telling you is that they've planned a remake. No way they'll find anyone as awesome and, uh, awesome as Bowie. More or less disturbing stuff:There's this: I'm not sure if this is the greatest win of the decade or the worst thing ever happened to Finnish papers. Hans't this got the suspicious feeling of a very discreet commercial about it?

MJ! Happy birth-and-burial day! Movies:So yesterday I went to see Public Enemies with T. It was okay - there was a lot of gunfire, and it was loud too. It was also maybe a bit too long for my tastes. . . . I want to see Inglorious Basterds. Now. TV:Season four of Torchwood is going to happen. First of all: WHY? Torchwood died. It really died. Unlike Jack, who keeps on living. Torchwood was killed in Children of Earth. Secondly - I would not watch Gwenwood, or Gwen, the Alien Slayer. I would not watch it. The article had a picture of John Barrowman in it - why bother, it's all about lil mommy Gwen and her family businesses. I would make someone who does watch it post all clips with Barrowman on Youtube and admire his magnificence there, but I would not watch it - Hell, I didn't even watch Random Shoes as it was too Gwen-centric! Thing is - if they brought Ianto back I would continue being Torchwood fangirl #526. As if that was going to happen. But imagine the amount of YAY if it did (I might die of happiness). I'm actually in a bit of denial about Children of Earth. It never happened.( on to personal angst )
